Where is the beach?
Eastney beach is situated at the eastern end of the sea front - Link to Multimap
By Train:
If booked ahead online it is possible with www.megatrain.com to get from Waterloo to Portsmouth Harbour for £1 each way.
From within the city there are a number of buses. No’s 6, 7, 15, 16, 16a, 17 & 18 will take you in the right direction.
Take a bus heading towards Hayling Island ferry - ask at the station - there is a large bus station outside - or walk the one hour fascinating route all along the sea front - or take a taxi - Portsmouth has a very large, reliable taxi service. Ask for Eastney Beach at Fort Cumberland and use the map from this site.
Driving Directions:
Portsmouth is easily reached by means of the M27/A27. Eastney is on the south-eastern corner of the island.
- Take the A2030 (Eastern Road) from the A27 towards Southsea
- turn left at the major traffic lights at the end of this road (you'll know them when you see them)
- and left again just after the Bransbury park traffic lights
- then left yet again by the Eastney swimming pool
- There is a (currently) free car park (which gets very full on a nice day) at the junction of Fort Cumberland Rd and Melville Rd
- A path on the right of the entrance to the Radar station leads to the beach
- On reaching the beach turn left and there you are.
