Eastney Naturists
Campaigning to Save the Beach
We really need your help for the next phases of our campaign:
Legal Experience/Knowledge Wanted
We're looking for someone with legal expertise (ideally a solicitor with the specialist knowledge willing to donate some time to our cause) who would be able to offer definitive advice on planning, property law, etc
If you can help, please do contact us at info@eastneybeach.org.uk
Want to help?
- Make a small donation to the Eastney Naturists Fund - click here for details
- There's a user forum where you can talk to us, discuss ideas, or better still volunteer to help out!
- Write to the Portsmouth City Council - not just to the councillors, try the business & tourism dept, tell 'em about the power of the buff pound!
- Write to the local press - they've proved to be very sympathetic to naturist use of the beach in the past
- Ask the local library to stock books on naturism - the more requests and the more books on the shelf will help to raise the profile of naturism locally, in turn raising the profile of Eastney Beach and the campaign. In the meantime you can email your own requests to lending.library@portsmouthcc.gov.uk
Long Term Users of the Beach
Many thanks to those that have come forward so far - we now have a number of signed affidavits, with some testifying to over 60 years use of Eastney Beach! The affidavits now add up to a total of 197 years!
The Section 106 agreement has still not signed, but it could be at any day. After that there is likely to be a further consultative period which could involve the public - hence the VERY IMPORTANT need for those with 20+, 30+ or 40+ years experience of using the beach (especially the privatised part about to be "enclosed" by QinetiQ/Developer) TO COME FORWARD - NOW please.
We really need those who have used the beach for many years to come forward - we're particularly interested in hearing from people who have experience of unrestricted access to the beach for 20+, 30+ or 40+ years that would be willing to sign an affidavit to that effect.
If you can help, please contact us at info@eastneybeach.org.uk
If you want to just go ahead and sort out the affidavit:
The "Statement" or "Affidavit" is very simple - there is the very simple wording to be found on wikipedia It should just say something like" I have been a regular user of Eastney Beach Naturist's Section next to the former Gunnery Range and have had unrestricted access to the beach since....". The bit about unrestricted access is particularly important.
Commisioners for Oaths can be found at (they all charge only £5)
